To reach the trailhead parking lot to the St. Regis Mountain travel 2.5 miles to the west, from Keese Mills Road intersection with NYS Route 30 between Malone and Saranac Lake. The Keese Mills Road intersection with Route 30 is in Franklin County 100 feet to the North of the Paul Smiths College main entrance.

The footpath leading to the St. Regis summit is approximately 3 miles long with 1,235 feet of vertical rise. The DEC trail register where the footpath starts is at the following GPS Coordinates: 44 deg. 25.85' N - 74 deg. 17.95' W
